Easter 2013

This Easter had PERFECT weather. It was nearly 20 degrees the whole weekend! I felt so blessed.

Saturday we spent hours out in the sun in shorts and t-shirts starting our tans for the summer. If I want color I have to work at it. My two big girls turn brown at the slightest glimpse of the sun. I am jealous of their amazing tannable skin. It must be their gypsy blood.

We started the weekend at the clinic all getting diagnosed with bronchitis. The antibiotics had us starting to feel better quite quickly though. Saturday morning we dyed Easter eggs. It was really beautiful to see how much more engaged Sofie was this year. Both big girls had fun watching the eggs change color while Evie looked on from her Bumbo seat.

We went to Jon’s Mom’s place for the afternoon and played at the park with the girls, their uncle Tony, Auntie Lisa and Gramma. Dinner was delicious but it was the first time I’d eaten meat in nearly a months and I paid for it the next day!

Sunday morning Livi woke up just after 7 am as usual and found the trail of eggs that the Bunny dropped while he was hopping around the house. The trail leads to the baskets where they got a few chocolates, a kite each, and a shirt for Livi, skirt for Sofie and an outfit for Evie since she didn’t chocolates.

We also started a tradition last year that Livi was really excited about. We plant some Easter eggs and they grow in to candy or chocolate lollipops! Unfortunately, we have some racoons that spend some time in a tree in our backyard. Although the lollipops were wrapped in plastic, they ate them up! Thankfully, we checked before Livi saw them and Jon was able to run down stairs and steal some of the chocolate lollipops Marmee was going to give the girls. He got those in the ground and the mess cleaned up just in time!

Eggs going in the ground.
Lollipops grew with Easter Bunny magic!

We went to church then enjoyed a tea party lunch with my family! I even got a nap in the afternoon. All in all, a blessed Easter.

Happy Easter! He is risen!

3 Months Old!

Evie is 3 months old now! I’m really enjoying this stage and wanting time to slow down. She is much more interactive and a lot more sturdy. She can hold her head up really sturdy and sit on our laps better now too. She is starting to reach out for things and holding toys. She is tentative to put toys in her mouth and chew but it is starting. She is smiling lots but laughter is still a luxury. She has been sick though which may be contributing. We’ve all had colds for about 2 weeks and Livi, Evie and I have all been left with terrible coughs. We went to a clinic yesterday and it turns out we all have bronchitis!

Since being on the antibiotics Evie has gotten a bit louder and a bit more fussy. The meds could be giving her a tummy ache, she is starting to teethe from the amount of drool being seen and she could be in her 3 month growth spurt. Fun times! I think we will start seeing her personality more now that she will be feeling better. She laughed just before she was two months and we’ve had to work really hard to get a giggle out of her since. Today, we’ve got giggles relatively easily, finally! She must have been feeling worse than I thought to keep her from laughing 😦

Evie is 15lbs and still growing. Her being sick has slowed down her growth a bit but she is starting to just fit in 9 month clothes!

Evie is still the most content baby. She its just so relaxed! She does prefer to be held but I don’t mind, most of the time. She LOVES watching her sisters play. We put her in the exiscauser already, even though she is a little small. It gives her a little more eye level and protection 🙂 Her sisters can’t maul her there and she is up on their level more to play!

Evie found her thumb finally. She doesn’t consistently get it but it will come I think. She only takes the soother when she is tired and frustrated from trying to get a good suck out of her hand.

Evie is such a joy. We all adore her. Sofie is gentle with her and loves to lay beside her. Livi is stilling enamoured with “her baby”. When Evie cries Livi gives me instructions on things to try. It’s cute but can be annoying depending on my mood! Evie loves her sisters too. She smiles when she sees them and kicks her legs ferociously.

She’s so long!

Evie’s 2 Months

She is two months old already and one amazing little baby.

She looks so much like my mom and me as baby… although she does have Jon’s long lashes and hard finger nails. My fingernails bend and peel very easily but hers are daggers! She scrunches up her nose too, which I think may be the way Jon does his. It is a little early to totally tell though. Her eyes are still a dark greyish blue like my sisters but they still may turn brown like Jon’s and Livi’s. Otherwise she is definitely a Schmidt baby which adds water to my immaculate conception theory! (Yes, I know THE immaculate conception refers to Mary being sinless but what else do I cal it… this wasn’t a virgin birth, just a way – off – the – possible – timing – of – conception – so – there – must – have – been – some – divine – intervention – here – birth

She is still nursing really well. I’m so paranoid about my milk supply though that I think I’m feeding her too much, even when she is not hungry. I weighed her the other day on our scale and she was 13lbs 13 oz! I love her chub 🙂

Sleeping is going great. I probably shouldn’t say because I know some readers might curse me. I will anyway because this is noteworthy. I feed her for the last time at 11pm and she sleeps until 6am, eats again and then is down until 8 or 9. I do wish she would take her last feed at 10 though, so I could feed her at 5 then she would sleep until 7 or 8am and be more in sync with her sisters but I’ll take it!

She has smiled this month she laughed! Only one really good bout of giggles for Marmee but we are trying for more! She is very easy going and super content. We have only heard major crying from her a handful of times and only for very short periods. Even through her stuffed up nose that she had for about a week, she was quite mellow about it all. Such a trooper.

She has a lot of strength in her legs and is already weight baring on them but still has a bit of a floppy head and curled up little hands most of the time. I think she is going to hold on to her baby of the family title quite well.

The girls love her and there hasn’t been too much regression or jealousy from either of them… probably helps that both parents are home! She fits in so well and I can’t imagine our family without her.
